This Commercial Real Estate Company is a fully-integrated, self-managed, and self-administered real estate company focused on owning and operating commercial properties in Colorado. 5.12 Solutions’ challenge was to provide team building and corporate training workshops during a two-day offsite. Specific focus was on helping employees develop problem-solving skills, generate a sense of ownership, and facilitate professional growth.
Desiring an inspirational setting to combine professional development with play, 5.12 Solutions partnered with Peaceful Valley Ranch & Conference Center in the scenic mountains of Boulder County. The two-day offsite started with the Hi-Tech Treasure Hunt where employees honed their leadership and communication skills to find hidden caches around the property. Next, 5.12’s Corporate Climb challenged participants to a fun, and professionally guided, rock-climbing experience. Far beyond most stale, corporate training events, Corporate Climb reinforced trust in co-workers, and importantly, trust in oneself. Finally, all participants engaged in one of 5.12 Solutions’ Inspiring Innovation Workshops related to decision-making and problem-solving skills. “I liked the challenge of rock climbing and using the GPS,” wrote one KEW employee. “I also learned that when we are all aware that we have a common goal, if we work together, we can achieve it within the parameters we set for ourselves.”
Following each activity, 5.12 Solutions facilitated group discussions
to help participants translate the experience to their everyday work
situations. The field components of the offsite helped individuals build
an understanding of how their behaviors impacted team dynamics. The
overall result was a sense of empowerment knowing that each employee
contributed to the future direction of the company while developing
critical leadership and management skills.
