What is recession depression?
It is fatigue. It is low morale due to the way that people have been treated over the past year. It is the “doing more with less” that seems endless after a year or more of having to do more with less.
I wrote about this in previous blog posts. In the past year, people have been through layoffs, pay cuts, 401k contribution cuts, reduced hours, reduction in benefits, and fewer training opportunities. And, the way that people were treated during those difficult times will impact whether or not they will be around when the economy rebounds.
But, don’t worry. You aren’t at risk of losing all your people. Your poor performers and average performers won’t leave because no one wants to hire them anyway.
It’s your high potentials who will be gone.
The way that you treat people matters…in any economy.
